Optimizing Metatrader4 for Forex Systems (EA's)

Today I will discuss something that everyone should do on their metatrader4 terminal before
trading with any system or EA (Expert Advisor). It is a good idea to optimize the terminal so that
we are not using up too much memory and thus affecting the performance of the system. The first thing we can do is to make sure the all the charts we are using with our EA's are using the bar charts, and not candlestick charts which use up more memory. In addition we can remove any unnecessary indicators that our systems do not require. There is a setting in the tools pull down menu under options to reduce the amount of bars in history to 5000. This is one of the most important things you can do to improve performance. Let's be sure to restart our terminals at least once a week to keep it running fresh. If you are trading on a VPS server you are going to want to restart this at least once a week as well. All unused charts should be closed, and if you are trading on multiple charts you can minimize some to help free up some memory. I hope you have an idea, that running your terminals as lean as possible will improve the performance of the forex systems you are using. As always you can contact me with any concerns.
